And four Sunday tips to make Mondays better!
Ok. I want to make a case for Monday. Monday might seem like the evil day of the week ripping you away from the weekend, but if we think really hard, I think Monday is the best day of the week. .
Bare with me, I have 3 pretty good reasons why, you, too, should make Monday your favorite day of the week:
- Monday helps you resetget back to your routine
No matter what, I always need a reset from the weekend. A lot of times, my weekends include relaxing, going out with friends, and spending time with my boyfriend and my family. Usually, my routine gets all out of whack. I stay up late, sleep in, eat junk food and don’t get my normal workouts in.
So when Monday rolls around, I’m ready to get back to a normal routine. Also, if I want to implement a new habit, Monday is always the perfect day to start. Even though a new year or a Monday doesn’t actually change anything, having regular times to reset and evaluate your day-to-day is helpful.
And Monday is never a drastic, life-changing reset. I’m just more intentional about getting my to-do list written, hitting the gym and staying on top of my stuff.
I don’t view Monday as a day to get back to the grind, and I’ve really shifted my mindset over the past few years, trying to really embrace the start of the week.
I don’t dread it; I look forward to it. It’s a good day.
- Monday means I get stuff done.
On a Monday, I almost always get a workout in. I love, love to workout and for some reason, it always hits different.
Because I usually have a break day(s) over the weekend, when I work out on Monday, it doesn’t seem like an obligation or part of my to-do list. It’s something I get to do.
This week, I got a three-mile run-in on Monday. It felt GOOD to move my legs after a weekend of rest, and Monday is the only day I have fresh legs and a fresh mind.
Because I’m more ready for the week, I simply get more done on Mondays. It’s like a natural productivity boost. I have the week laid out and on Mondays, I have the most control over what I’m doing.
- Monday is the only day I’m 110% rested on.
I’m not only rested physically; my brain has gotten a break from work. I’m ready to wake up to my alarm, which tends to not be as easy on a Thursday morning. I work from home on Monday, which I enjoy because I have the willpower to do my work. After resting during the weekend, I feel motivated to work from home and usually get the most done at the start of the week.
Later in the week, I start to wear down a bit, so I like to use the power of a rested mind to knock out the most important things. And because I’m pretty good about having fun and getting rest on Saturday and Sunday, my Monday doesn’t feel like a chore.
So how can you make Monday’s the best day?
Four things to do on Sunday to make Monday the best day
- Spend time at church over the weekend
I like to go to church on Sunday to focus my week. Spending time with friends, family, and God helps me center on what’s important.
- Deep Clean
It’s nice to start the week out with a clean room, a clean kitchen and all your laundry done. I also like to have a stocked fridge and idea of what and when I’ll cook for the week.
- Look at your week as a whole
Planning is the first step in any process, so I like to get my week planned out on a Sunday night. Knowing what the week holds, helps me evaluate what needs to be done on Monday and what can wait.
I like getting a pretty good grasp on what appointments I have, meetings, assignments, and my work. It helps lower any Sunday stress.
- Do one or two weekday tasks to get ahead
Do a couple of easy tasks like a short assignment or knock out the built-up emails in your inbox so you can start Monday on top, not behind.
It might be nice to get into the groove a little early and tackle Monday ahead, not behind.
