Because consistency and constancy are so important in content creation, you should be prepared to build habits around your content creation.

Small Changes, big results

One life-changing book for me was Atomic Habits by James Clear. Clear explains the psychology of habits and how to use them to your advantage. Ultimately, “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems” (James Clear).

  • Create systems that allow to read, learn and expirence life. This will make you a more creative and engaging person.
  • Build in time to create your content everyday. If you work on your content everyday, it won’t be as taxing of a work load.
  • Structure your life around habits rather than around your goals. If you create habits that lead to a more productivity, higher creativity and elevated contet, your work will soar.
Proactive is productive

After reading Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, I learned to put first things first and be PROACTIVE. Waiting around for someone to tell you what to do will immediately make you fall behind: plus, no one is telling you what to do when you are a content creator.

What does it look like to be proactive in your work?

  • Do important things, not just urgent things. Sometimes we mistake importance and urgency. If you can, focus on doing the important thigns that elevate your content instead of relying on email to tell you what’s important.
  • Start. You have to just create something sometimes. It won’t always be good, but creating something can spur another better idea.
  • Do something important every. single. day. This is what I’m worst at. I can’t always make myself do something important everyday because I’m focused on the urgent. When I start my day with the important tasks rather than the urgent tasks, I’m stay in control of my tasks instead of letting my tasks control me.
Focus on the creative, implement by habit

If you can give 90% of your effort to your creativity and let the implementation happen by habit, it will make your content creation process go smother. Have a clear weekly plan and start making it a habit to post on Mondays, write on Tuesdays or whatever your plan might be.

Creativity should drive the quality of your content and the implementation should just be a habit, a part of your day-to-day.
